Lead gen, explained plainly

Know what you are buying before you buy ad management

This site explains how paid lead generation is usually organized and what drives cost, then lets you ask a service partner for a quote.

The work, in plain terms

Someone sets up and manages your paid ads, builds or fixes the pages those ads send people to, and makes sure each inquiry is recorded against the ad that produced it. That is the whole service. It runs on Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Meta Ads Manager and LinkedIn Campaign Manager, with GA4 and Google Tag Manager for measurement. You pay the platforms directly for clicks and impressions. The management fee is separate and covers the hours spent building, checking and adjusting. Reports show spend, clicks, form fills and calls by campaign, so you can judge for yourself what is worth keeping.

Choosing where to start

If people already search for what you sell, search ads are usually the first thing to look at, since you can bid on those searches. If buyers rarely search but can be reached by job title, industry or interest, paid social on Meta or LinkedIn may fit better. Whichever channel you use, ads need somewhere to send people, which is where landing pages and forms come in. And if you cannot tell today which inquiries came from which ad, start with lead tracking and follow-up before spending more.

Four steps to a quote

You can stop at any point before signing.

  1. Request: describe the service and your situation on the quote form.
  2. Handoff: we send it to a service partner, who replies to you directly.
  3. Scoping: you and the partner agree channels, pages, tracking and reporting.
  4. Quote: the partner prices that scope, and you accept, adjust or decline it.

What drives cost

Two separate costs apply. Ad spend is what you pay Google, Microsoft, Meta or LinkedIn for clicks and impressions, charged to your own card in your own account. The management fee is what the partner charges for the work, and it depends on scope:

  • how many channels are in play, since each platform is managed separately;
  • how many landing pages and forms need building or fixing;
  • how involved the tracking is, from a single form up to calls, CRM stages and offline conversions;
  • how often you want reports and meetings.

The partner quotes once those are clear.

Common questions

Is ad spend included in the management fee?

Usually not. In most setups you pay the ad platform directly, by card or invoice, for clicks and impressions. The service partner charges a separate fee for setup and management. Keeping the two apart means you can see exactly what went to Google, Microsoft or Meta. Ask any provider to state both clearly in the proposal.

My industry has ad restrictions. Can this still work?

Often, with care. Ad platforms restrict or add rules for areas such as health, financial services, housing, employment, credit, legal services, alcohol and gambling. Some require advertiser verification or limit targeting. Mention your industry in the request so the service partner can say what is possible. Whether specific claims are lawful is a question for your own counsel.

What will I need to provide?

Typically: access to existing ad accounts and analytics, a payment method on file with the ad platforms, facts about your offer and prices, logos and photos, someone to approve ads and pages, and a person who answers new inquiries. Over time, the most useful thing you can give is feedback on which leads became customers.

Will I need to answer leads myself?

Yes, or someone on your side will. The service partner sets up how inquiries are captured and routed, for example an email alert, a CRM entry or a text notification. Who answers and how fast is up to your business, and that response often matters as much as the ads themselves.

Which ad platforms are covered?

Requests usually involve Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising for search, and Meta Ads Manager and LinkedIn Campaign Manager for paid social. Tracking typically runs through GA4 and Google Tag Manager, with leads passed to a CRM such as HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive. Mention any other platform you use in your request.

Send your request with a work email and a few notes about the campaigns you have in mind.
